WHY DAVIES IS A BETTER TALENT THAN HAALAND, SANCHO, & FODEN.

Alphonso Davies

When you talk of the best future potentials in European Football, it is almost impossible for anyone not to mention these four names: Haaland, Foden, Davies, and Sancho. All four are sensational potentials who has taken the footballing world by storm with their wonderful performances and exceptional achievements. But placing these four side by side, it is certainly not too difficult to know who the better talent is.

Erling Haaland stands out in terms of goal scoring proficiency. Sancho stands out in terms of creative abilities. Phil Foden is a player that can rise up to be a savior for his team when the need arises. But Alphonso Davies is the all-round player who most definitely has the better talent of all four. I'd be comparing all four in salient points below;

Erling Haaland

1. Goals Haul

Looking at all 4 players, it is worthy to note that Alphonso Davies is a left back, unlike the other players who are in the attacking frame of footballing setup. Automatically, this goal stats is never suppose to favour the defender. In fact, he shouldn't even come close. But that isn't the case here.

Below is the goal per game ratio of all 4 players since 2017/18 season.

Erling Haaland: 0.83

Phil Foden: 0.21

Alphonso Davies: 0.13

Sancho: 0.35

It is not a priority of a defender to score goals, but we can see from the stats above, that Davies is not far left behind, especially with the fact that he has more assists than both Haaland and Foden.

Assists of all four since 2017/18

Haaland: 18

Foden: 14

Davies: 22

Sancho: 51

2. Individual Achievements

There is a saying that: "the mark of a great talent is in the achievements he can boast of." With this in mind, I'd be comparing their major individual achievements since 2017/18.

Jason Sancho

Erling Haaland

• Austrian Footballer of the year: 2019

• FIFA U-20 World Cup golden Boot: 2019

• UEFA Champions League Breakthrough XI: 2019

• 1-time Bundesliga player of the month.

• ESM Team of the year.

Phil Foden

• BBC young personality of the year: 2017

• FIFA U-17 World Cup golden ball: 2017

• Alan Hardacker Trophy: 2020

Alpho Davies

• CONCACAF Gold Cup: Golden Boot Award: 2017

• MLS All Star: 2018

• Vancouver Whitecap's Player of the year: 2018

• Vancouver Whitecap's goal of the year: 2018

• Canadian's Men's player of the year: 2018

• UEFA Champions League squad of the season: 2019/20

• UEFA defender of the season (2nd place): 2019/20

Jadon Sancho

• 1-time Bundesliga player of the month

• 1-time Bundesliga goal of the month

• UEFA Europe under-17 championship golden player: 2017

• Bundesliga team of the season: 2018/19

Looking at these individual achievements, it's clear none comes close to Davies. Just look at those achievements and reconcile it with the fact that he's just a right back (a defender for Christ sake).

Phil Foden

3. Pressure Handling

All four players are playing for top club sides. Haaland (Borussia Dortmund), Foden (Manchester City), Sancho (Borussia Dortmund), and Davies (Bayern Munich). Of these three clubs, the biggest team is Bayern Munich, and there's no doubt that the pressure to perform at that club is a notch higher than the others. To be in the first eleven of Bayern Munich is also another grade of pressure on its own, compared to these other teams.

4. Trophies haul

"You can have a player who scores 50 goals in one season, but if you win nothing, it means nothing". Those were the words of Branislav Ivanovich. Without saying more I'd compare these players trophy cabinet.

• Erling Haaland (4 trophies): Austrian Bundesliga (2x), Austrian Cup (1x), Syrenka Cup (1x)

• Phil Foden (8 trophies): Premier League (2x), FA Cup (1x), EFL Cup (3x), Community Shield (2x)

• Alphonso Davies (7 trophies): Bundesliga (2x), DFB-Pokal (2x), DFL Super cup (1x), UEFA Champions League (1x), UEFA Super cup (1x).

• Jadon Sancho (1 trophy): DFL Super cup (1x).

These stats actually tells the tale of how great a talent Davies is. Although Foden might have topped this stat with more trophies, but when you look deeper to see the quality of trophy, you would know Davies is miles ahead

Naturally, the price tag of players is usually favouring Attackers over Defenders. But when a defender begins to cost as much as attackers, there's obviously a unique quality within such player.

Below is the current price tag of these 4 players according to transfermarket.com.

Haaland: €80million

Foden: €60million

Davies: €80million

Sancho: €117million

If Van Dijk, the world best player 2019 (3rd place) and 2nd most expensive defender in the world can be priced at €83.5million, and Davies is currently priced at €80million at just age 20. Then, these young wonderkid is set to do great things.

To be good at doing multiple things is always better than to be good at doing just one thing. This is what has put Davies ahead of his peers for me. He defends perfectly and still contributes largely to the attacking frame. There's more to Davies than we have observed, and time would unfold what this youngstar still has in stock.

Until then, he's the most talented potential as of now.
